How Tattoo Lightening Systems Work & The Pro's & Con's of each method.

THIS SERVICE IS ONLY FOR COSMETIC TATTOOING (PERMANENT MAKEUP)

Saline Lightening *THIS IS THE ONLY METHOD WE OFFER *- A specialized, all-natural saline solution is implanted over your existing permanent makeup or tattoo using a tattoo machine. The solution breaks up the healed pigment, and begins to lift the pigment out of the skin by osmosis. The pigment is slowly pulled to the surface of the skin and heals into a scab, which falls off leaving a lightened tattoo.

A single session can lighten a tattoo anywhere from 20% to 50%, three to five sessions are usually required.

{os-mo-sis /äzˈmōsəs/ a process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one, thus equalizing the concentrations on each side of the membrane.}

Pro's of Saline Lightening; Affordable, None Ablative, All Natural, Safe for All Skin Types, Less Risk of Scarring, Lower Risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH), Less Irritation,  Less Painful, Discomfort Can Be Treated with Topical Anesthesia, Quick Reduction of Inflammation, Faster Healing Times, Works on All Color Inks and Pigments,  Works On All Organic, Non-Organic Pigments, Carbons & Iron Oxides.

Con's of Saline Removal / Lightening; Longer Appointments, Takes 2 or more visits to Completely Remove (depending on age, depth of ink, placement area, method ink was implanted with and tolerance), Can Become Painful as Topical Anesthesia Wears Off (re-application of topical may be possible)

WE DO NOT OFFER ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SERVICES

Laser Removal -Among the most common method of tattoo removal performed today. Tattoos consist of thousands of particles of tattoo ink suspended in the skin. The normal human immune system typically removes small foreign particles from the skin. Tattoo ink particles are too big to be removed by this system and are thus considered permanent. The use of lasers helps to break up these particles into smaller pieces that can be removed by the immune system.

Laser treatments work by targeting the ink particles in the skin with highly concentrated light waves that heat up the ink particles and cause them to fragment into smaller particles that are able to be cleared away by the body's immune system. Complete removal of a tattoo is usually not accomplished in one laser treatment session. Laser tattoo removal typically requires more than one treatment to reduce the size of the ink particles and make it easier for them to be dispersed by the immune system. Depending on the tattoo design, size and color, it may take 1-10 laser sessions to remove the ink. Some colors of ink are harder to remove than others and may not be able to be completely removed.

Some tattoo pigments contain metals that could theoretically break down into toxic chemicals in the body when exposed to light. This has not yet been reported in vivo but has been shown in laboratory tests.

Pro's of Laser Removal; Quick office visits, Among most effective methods, Non Intrusive

Con's of Laser Removal; Expensive, Painful, Requires Multiple Visits, May not Remove All Colors, Risk of Infection, Risk of Scaring, High Risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH),  Not Good for Eyebrows as it Can Destroy the Bulb of the Hair Follicles and Cause Permanent Hair Loss in the Area of Treatment, Could Damage the Melanocyte Cells Leaving a White Shadow or "Ghost" of the Removed Tattoo.

Surgical Excision -This involves simply cutting out the skin that contains the tattoo. This technique is best used for small tattoos and may not be practical for very large tattoos. The skin surrounding the tattoo is then brought together and closed.

Pro's of Surgical Excision; Usually Only Requires 1 Visit, Total Removal

Con's of Surgical Excision; Very Expensive, Completely Intrusive, Can Be Painful After Procedure and During Healing, Risk of Infection, High Risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH), Risk of Permanent Scaring, Likely Will Require the Use of a Local or Even a General Anesthesia Depending on the Size of the Tattoo, Tattoo must be Fairly Small to be Completely Removed.

Dermabrasion Removal -Surgical method of removal that involves the use of a medical grinding tool that is used to remove the outer layers of the skin in a controlled manner. The intent is to remove the layers of the skin that contain the ink particles, thereby removing the tattoo.

This procedure is painful and because of this, is typically performed with either a local, regional or even a general anesthetic.

Pro's of Dermabrasion; Less expensive then Laser or Surgical Excision

Con's of Dermabrasion; Painful, Expensive, High risk of Infection, High probability of scaring, High Risk of Post-Inflammatory (PIH), Multiple Sessions Required, Does not work as well as other methods

Chemical Removal -Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels can also be used to remove tattoos. TCA is a mild acid that is applied to the skin to remove the outer layers of the skin, and with them, the tattoo ink.

Pro's of Chemical Removal; Less Expensive then Lasers or Surgery Excision, Slightly Less Painful then Lasers or Dermabrasion

Con's of Chemical Removal; Ablative, High Risk of Infection, High Risk of Scaring, Painful, Doesn't Work as Well as Other Methods, High Risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) in Darker Skin Tones

Plasma Arcing Removal -Also known as Soft Surgery, or non surgical Blephraplasty. Plasma Arcing removes excess skin by a process called sublimation.

Pro's; I am still researching this to find the Pro's

Con's; Very Ablative, Painful, High Risk of Scaring, High Risk of Infection

Salabrasion Removal -A home technique in which salt or a salt solution is used to abrade the skin, for example to remove the pigment from a tattoo or permanent makeup.

Pro's of Salabrasion; NONE!

Con's of Salabrasion; Does Not Work, Very Painful, Ablative, Severe Scaring, High Risk of Infection, High Risk of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH), Not Typically Preformed by any Professionals or Specialist.
